Papaya Dream Smoothie

I created this succulent smoothie after nabbing five organic papayas at the farmer’s market for just a buck (major score!). Of course, this was during my summer in sweet, sweet California. But it took this amazing deal to remind me how much I truly love papayas. Besides their creamy texture and oh-so sweetness, they’re a treasure trove of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and other healthy phytonutrients. In fact, papayas are one of the best sources of vitamin C, a natural antioxidant that helps combat stress, boosts immunity and repairs collagen (in other words, it’s an anti-aging superstar). And the addition of cinnamon helps to promote blood sugar stability so there’s no energy crash. Use whatever protein powder you like or simply add a few tablespoons of hemp seeds as your source of complete protein, essential fats and fiber. 

If you can get your hands on some papayas, this dreamy creamy smoothie is guaranteed to be a hit. Enjoy!

  1. 1/2 papaya, cubed
  2. 1/2 banana
  3. 1 cup ice (using filtered water)
  4. 1 cup coconut water or plain, filtered water
  5. 1 tsp cinnamon
  6. 1 tsp coconut oil
  7. Juice of 1/2 lemon
  8. 1 scoop protein of choice OR 4 tbsp hemp seeds
  1. Blend all ingredients together. Top with granola and/or goji berries, cacao nibs, coconut flakes, nuts+seeds if you prefer crunch.
